OVAL

We race various forms of cars on the oval, all inspired from the full size

motorsport. Here are some details for the classes of car currently racing:

Saloonstocks

Based on a Sierra saloon car or hatchback, these cars have large bumpers.

The racing is controlled contact, basically nudge and spin. The cars are

powered by 4 cells and the Mardave G2 brushed motor or recently the

option of a 1s lipo and 13.5 brushless motor.

Hot Rods

These cars are based on various full size models, they have no external

bumpers, and are non contact. The are powered from 4 cells or 1S lipo,

and can either have a Mardave brushed G2 motor or brushless system

installed.

Stock Cars

These are based on full size F1 or F2 single seater stock cars. They have

bumpers fitted and are a limited contact formula, again nudge and spin.

They are powered by 6 cells and a brushed motor or a 1s lipo and 10.5

brushless motor.

Bangers

These are based on full size bangers, no external bumpers allowed, full

contact.

Rules are here.

The Oval Track

The track as the name suggests is oval in shape. Our track is one of the larger

variants, other tracks are a lot smaller. The cars are contained in the race track

by solid barriers surround the perimeter and the infield. Racing is very quick

with approx 3 sec laps. Depending on the formula being raced, cars can either

race clockwise or anti-clockwise.

Banger Rules

The rules for the Banger formula are available here.

There should be no surprises here as most will have been racing these all year. We're allowing a little movement on transponder placement, but we would ask that you protect the transponder as best as you can.

Lap counting

Although the club has decided to upgrade it's MyLaps lap counting decoder to RC4 for evening and out door use, we will continue to use a RC3 decoder for oval racing.

This means that the MRT PT will work, along with all the AMB/MyLaps PT's apart from the new Purcy version (MyLaps PT with 3 wires)..

Club Rules

All fife clubs agreed in 2013 to follow the BRCA rules closely. The rules are available here. Please note from 2013, 4 cells/silver have an equivalent 1s lipo/13.5 brushless motor, and   6 cell/silver can has an equivalent of 1s lipo/10.5 brushless motor.
