Access to
the site is via a forestry road, you must drive slow as
many people walk there dogs in the adjacent woods. There
is plenty of space so please be considerate to others
around the site. The site is a working farm with other
people requiring access, our neighbour is a moto x track
which is being rebuilt for corporate use, and this can be
busy on a Sunday when operational. LOCATION
The track
is located (KY5 0AN) approximately 25 miles North of
Edinburgh, driving time from Edinburgh is roughly 45
minutes.
Driving
Directions : Once you approach the Forth Road Bridge, most
of the road is either Motorway (M90) or Dualcarriageway
(A92) until the last 2 mile. WARNING:
The A92 is a favourite road for road side speed cameras
and unmarked police cars. When on
the A92 you should take the second slip road marked for
Lochgelly, at the top of the slip road turn right (cross
back over the A92 Dual Carriageway) and follow the B9149.
You will stay on this road for approximately 2 miles, you
should pass a very obvious “S” bend with large houses
and farm surrounding it. Continue along the B9149 until
you reach a long straight road with open field on right,
and a forest on the left. Set back from the road slightly
is a single bar green gate which allows access to the
forest road that leads to the farm. Go down the forest
track (the approach road has been improved from last
year), when you get to the cross roads go straight over,
we are just down to the right past the moto x track. Please
drive slowly on the approach to the track and be aware
that we are on a working farm, as well as a popular dog
walking area. THE TRACK The track
is 100% grass with various features (small & large);
the track will be prepared
as per last year, and we aim to have a really good
race surface.. The
following pictures were taken only a few months after
rebuilding the track, the grass has now fully recovered
ready for another season. We regularly hold regional
meetings on the track as well as a number of club meetings
throughout the year.
We have
used this land now for 4 years, and have had no issues
with drainage, we have installed surrounding drainage to
prevent the rain water coming down the field onto the
track. The tyres to use in the dry are Schumacher Yellow
Mini Spikes and when the track is wet/damp Ballistic Buggy
green Mini Spikes. We have a large rostrum currently
accessible via a single set of steps, but we have
purchased a second set and will be working to ensure they
are installed ready for the start of the 2016 season.
Race
control is situated in a dedicated container with a full
view of the track.
We also
have two containers available for pitting, plus a 3rd
container available.
We have car parking adjacent to the track. We are also
adjacent to the last reported gun duel on Scottish soil,
which took place in a field at Cardenbarns to the south of
Cardenden. On 2 August 1826, a Kirkcaldy merchant named
David Landale fought a duel with George Morgan, a
Kirkcaldy banker and retired Lieutenant from the 77th
Regiment of Foot. Morgan was killed by wounds received
from a pistol ball. Landale was tried and subsequently
cleared of his murder at Perth Sheriff Court. The
original pistols that David Landale used in the duel are
housed in the Kirkcaldy Museum and Art Gallery for anyone
that wants to do some local site seeing. DOGS Dogs MUST
be kept on a lead at all times and you MUST tidy up after
your dog. HOTELS:-
